6         Grading:

6.1      Credit distribution

Home & Class Work:     40%
Mid-Term Exam:             30%
Final Exam:                      30%

Homework and class work will generally be graded on the basis of evidence of work. The grading scale is "digital": "ü" (1 point per problem) for completion by the specified due date; otherwise "x" (0 points per problem). Mid-Term and Final Exams will be graded primarily on the basis of correctness of answer, with partial credit possible on the basis of evidence of work. The grading scale for each exam is "analog": 0-100 points.

Final grades in the course will be evaluated on the basis of a relative scale

(or "curve"). Best estimates of your current standing, that is, projected grade, will be furnished when possible.

6.2      Grading appeal process

THE COURSE INSTRUCTOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MAKE FINAL JUDGEMENTS ON RE-GRADING. THE RE-GRADING APPEAL PROCESS IS AS FOLLOWS: (1) SEE THE TEACHING ASSISTANT; IF STILL NOT SATISFIED, (2) SEE THE COURSE INSTRUCTOR; AND, IF NECESSARY, (3) THE INSTRUCTOR WILL DIRECT YOU TO ANY HIGHER-LEVEL UNIVERSITY AUTHORITIES WITH WHOM YOU MAY WISH TO SPEAK.

NOTE: DURING THE RE-GRADING PROCESS, THE COURSE INSTRUCTOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO RE-GRADE THE ENTIRE EXAM, NOT JUST THE PORTION IN QUESTION.

6.3      Exams and valid conflict policy

ALL EXAMS ARE MANDATORY!!! VALID CONFLICTS MUST BE SETTLED WITH THE INSTRUCTOR BEFORE—NOT AFTER—THE EXAM DATE
